The Kerala Story: A Twisted Tale or Reality?

The Kerala Story is a new documentary examining the state of Kerala in India from a social and political perspective. The film, helmed by Sudipto Sen, examines the state’s progress in areas including healthcare, education, and women’s empowerment. The movie has earned INR 35 crores to date.

The Kerala Story Plot

According to the updated synopsis, the movie is about four young women from different sections of the State. The planned Hindi film ‘The Kerala Story’ has received widespread criticism, and the filmmakers have responded by subtly changing their claim that 32,000 women from Kerala had joined the Islamic State (IS). The YouTube trailer’s description was updated to reflect the changes.

Four women from the Indian state of Kerala were duped and trafficked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the combat zone in Syria in the documentary The Kerala Story, directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Sudipto Sen’s film follows four female college students from Kerala who join the Islamic State.

 

Synopsis of The Kerela Story

The Kerela Story is a movie based on an alarming issue going on in the Indian state, Kerala. The film chronicles how ISIS exploited ‘love jihad’ to recruit 32 thousand women to fight in Syria. The men in the movie show how they used the promise of marriage to convert the Hindu and Christian ladies of Kerala to Islam and recruit them to fight for ISIS and other Islamic extremist groups. The horrifying events occurred in 2018 and 2019 when ISIS radicalized many young people in Kerala.

A Story That Stole Reactions

The movie Kerela Stories has stirred the Indian audience. A film that is known for highlighting social trauma and distress has been called a film with the twisted tale. The movie has surely moved the audience because if its heart-wrenching twists.

“heartbreaking and gut-wrenching stories of 32,000 women in Kerala,” the film’s original synopsis read. Nonetheless, the updated synopsis states that the film is inspired by the true lives of three young ladies from various sections of the State.

The Keralan Drama: Starring

Adah Sharma, the protagonist of The Kerala Story, is based on a real-life Hindu nurse who experienced the same atrocities endured by the character Fathima Ba, a Muslim woman who converted to Hinduism. Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani, all stars in their own right, will co-star alongside Fathima in this film.   Sudipto Sen Helms and Vipul Amrutlal Shah produce The Kerala Story for Sunshine Pictures Private Limited.

Date of Streaming

The Kerala Story was released on May 5th, 2023. There has been no confirmation of a specific date for the OTT debut of The Kerala Story. We hope the movie will premiere on a streaming service in June 2023.
