Most Anticipated Indian Movies of 2026 You Cannot Miss

If you’re a movie lover, 2026 is turning out to be one of the most exciting years Indian cinema has seen in a long time. From one of Bollywood’s most beloved romantic franchises returning after a decade to mythological epics shot in IMAX, and from war dramas rooted in real events to long-awaited sequels the year’s lineup has something for literally everyone. We’ve dug into every confirmed detail so you know exactly what’s coming, when it’s arriving, and why each film deserves a spot on your watchlist.

Aashiqui 3 / Tu Meri Zindagi Hai (October–November 2026)

Few franchise names carry as much emotional weight in Bollywood as Aashiqui. From the 1990 original that launched Anu Agarwal and Rahul Roy to the 2013 heartbreak saga with Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, each installment has become a cultural touchstone. Now, after more than a decade of wait, Aashiqui 3 is finally happening, and the creative team behind it is as exciting as the premise.

Directed by Anurag Basu the filmmaker responsible for Barfi!, Ludo, and Jagga Jasoos and produced by Bhushan Kumar under T-Series, the film stars Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela in the lead roles. The music is composed by Pritam Chakraborty, who has scored some of Bollywood’s most beloved soundtracks. That combination alone Anurag Basu directing a love story with Pritam on music should have every romantic-film fan paying attention.

The film is officially also titled Tu Meri Zindagi Hai, though it is widely known as Aashiqui 3. The story reportedly follows a struggling artist whose life transforms when he meets a woman who believes in him an emotionally intense journey where music becomes the bridge between two souls, very much in keeping with the franchise’s DNA. Kartik reportedly appears in a rugged musician look, drawing early comparisons to Aashiqui 2’s aesthetic intensity.

After multiple schedule shifts the film was at various points eyed for Diwali 2025, Valentine’s Day 2026, and then later in the year it is now targeting an October–November 2026 theatrical release. Given the franchise’s track record, expect the music to drop well before the film and take on a life of its own.

Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups (June 4, 2026)

This is the one fans have been waiting for since KGF: Chapter 2 left everyone wanting more. Toxic is a pan-Indian period gangster drama directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by Yash himself alongside Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.

Yash plays the lead in a dual role, and the ensemble cast reads like a who’s who of Indian cinema Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, Tovino Thomas, and Sudev Nair. The full title Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups tells you something about the film’s tone: dark, layered, not meant for the faint of heart.

Set in the coastal landscape of Goa, the story unfolds in a bygone era and explores a world of crime, power, and betrayal. The film carries a massive production budget estimated between ₹700–800 crore, with Hollywood-level stunt choreography and cinematography handled by Rajeev Ravi. The first look glimpse, released on Yash’s 40th birthday in January 2026, racked up over 200 million views in 24 hours a number that says everything about the anticipation.

After multiple postponements (originally planned for April 2025), Toxic is now confirmed for a worldwide theatrical release on June 4, 2026.

Ramayana – Part 1 (Diwali 2026)

If there’s one film that represents the ambition of Indian cinema in 2026, it’s Ramayana. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari the man behind Dangal and Chhichhore and produced by Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus Studios, this two-part epic has been a decade in the making.

Ranbir Kapoor steps into the role of Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The supporting cast includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara. The music is being composed by the dream team of Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman a pairing that alone has raised the bar for what this film could be.

Ramayana Part 1 is targeting a late October / Diwali 2026 worldwide release in IMAX format, with Part 2 scheduled for Diwali 2027. At CinemaCon 2026, Yash confirmed the film’s late October release window, describing it as a globally positioned Indian production on the scale of Baahubali 2. The film is budgeted at approximately ₹835 crore and will release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, with English subtitles.

This isn’t just a movie it’s a cultural event. Ranbir Kapoor described Lord Ram as “the conscience keeper of billions of people,” and that sense of reverence and scale is visible in everything the team has shared so far.

With a confirmed release on August 15, 2026 Independence Day the timing couldn’t be more fitting. Salman Khan has reportedly undergone a significant physical transformation for the role, leaning into the raw, soldier-driven aesthetic the story demands.
