Manish was born on December 5, 1966, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Elphinstone College, Mumbai. His films and TV shows have garnered widespread acclaim in the Telugu, Bollywood, Hollywood, and Tamil film and television industries.
In 1998, Manish launched his couture label Reverie-Manish Malhotra and began his foray into runway modeling and fashion creation. His first catwalk presentation was in November of 1999. At 25, all his efforts paid off, and he was given his first major break.
His notable career in the fashion industry
Manish Malhotra’s couture line debuted in 2005 and is sold in two locations (Mumbai and New Delhi), featuring bridal, couture, diffusion, and men’s wear collections. His label is also sold in Dubai’s and India’s multi-label stores. His work has been said to be influenced by Indian art and architecture.
Manish Malhotra used to advocate for rural India’s traditional arts and crafts. As part of the “Mijwan Welfare Society,” he performs this. Shabana Azmi and Namrata Goyal lead the nonprofit organization Mijwan, which her late husband, Kaifi Azmi, established.
Manish and his philanthropy work
In March 2017, the Philadelphia Museum of Art presented a retrospective on the Phulkari method in their Joan Spain Gallery, which included garments from Manish Malhotra’s Thread of Emotion couture line from 2013.
Both in 2013 and 2016, Manish Malhotra gave to the largest NGO in India. At the ARTiculate the Pratham Ball in London in 2013, he honored 100 years of Indian cinema. He collected three million British pounds for the Indian Education Foundation. His show featured pieces inspired by three distinct periods in the history of Indian cinema: the early twentieth century, the 1960s, and the 2010s.
The audience was taken to the era of “Mughal-E-Azam” and “Awara” with his black and white collection. Manish Malhotra continued his efforts to eradicate illiteracy in India and contributed $1.8 million at Houston’s Pratham’s Annual Gala on April 23. In collaboration with Angel Foundation (London), Rivaage Boutique presented Manish Malhotra’s first catwalk show in the United Kingdom.
The event was hosted at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. When planning his UK debut, Manish decided to donate to Angel Foundation. Its purpose was to draw attention to the appalling sexism and discrimination that women in India face. Angel Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to advancing the status of women in India.
On February 20, 2014, Manish showcased his newest creations and couture alongside 20 models from Mumbai. To raise cancer awareness, the show was produced in collaboration with the Oman Cancer Association and the Dar Al’ Atta’a. The lawn of the Intercontinental Muscat Hotel served as the venue for the concert. The Oman Cancer Association benefited from the event’s RO20,000 donations.
