Yashasvi Jaiswal rewrote the history books by becoming first-ever Indian opener to score a Test century on debut away from home
The left-hander attained the milestone on Day 2 of the first Test against the West Indies at Windsor Park in Dominica. Jaiswal hit a single off fellow debutant Alick Athanaze to bring up his century.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, a talented cricketer, achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the 17th Indian to score a century on his Test debut. Notably, he also became the third designated opener to accomplish this incredible milestone.
Jaiswal is the 5th Indian to score a Test debut century overseas, following Ali Baig (1959) v/s England, S. Amarnath (1976) in Auckland, P. Amre (1992) v/s South Africa in Durban, S. Ganguly (1996) at Lord's v/s England, and V. Sehwag (2001) v/s South Africa in Bloemfontein
Jaiswal had a huge party to mark the centenary. After he finished the race, he ripped off his helmet, leaped into the air, and yelled.
After a slow start on Day 1, Jaiswal has exploded for 11 fours in his innings. Jaiswal scored total 171 runs before he got out.
Jaiswal also won the Man of the Match award for his superb debut ton. With this, he joined an elite list of Indian players with a MOTM on Test debut. Only the eighth Indian batter to do so.
