The Indian government's central bank, the Reserve Bank of India, has decided to stop issuing Rs 2,000 banknotes.
The central bank, however, has stated that the currency notes are valid until September 30,2023.
These notes will still act as legal tender in the Indian economy.
The RBI has also requested that banks immediately cease issuing Rs 2,000 notes. According to RBI's statement, the move was made in light of the central bank's "Clean Note Policy."
To quickly replenish the economy's cash supply after withdrawing all 500 and 1000 banknotes from circulation, the 2000 denomination banknote was created in November 2016 under Section 24(1) of the RBI Act, 1934.
RBI has clearly stated that the printing of 2k note was stopped in 2018-19. This was done to follow the Clean Note Policy.
According to ANI, which cited "sources," this is a standard RBI operation. Therefore, no one should worry.
Grateful for your time!
