Maoists blew a large IED on a kuchha road About 400 kilometers south of Raipur on Wednesday. They fired on the wounded jawans at Aranpur in the Dantewada district of Bastar.
A convoy of about 200 soldiers was returning to base when the bomb blew off at 1.30 p.m. They estimate that 50 kilos of explosives were utilized.
This indicates that a command IED was employed, meaning that a Maoist cadre kept an eye on the road and detonated the device as the car approached.
Explosives were positioned five or six feet below the road, making them difficult to see.
Ten District Reserve Guards (DRG) members and civilian drivers lost their lives in the attack.
The Dantewada blast tragedy brought the nation together, uniting people from all walks of life in expressing solidarity and support for the families of the fallen soldiers.
